About Us
Third Street Baptist Church was organized in 1927 at a camp meeting attended by a large number who were without a church. Realizing the great need, a suggestion was made to organize a new church. Sixteen charter members came together. The church was granted permission to meet at the Northern Heights School until they could construct a church.
Land was purchased on the corner of Third Street and Eighth Ave and in Sept 1928 the land was dedicated and building began. The picture here is the original building. Since this time the Sunday School addition was added, the building was bricked, a pastorium and Fellowship Hall have been added. But most importantly souls have been reached for Christ and lives changed.
Today, Third Street Baptist strives to be a strong witness for the cause of Christ. We strive to equip our congregation for healthy Biblical growth. As a church family, we seek to encourage one another and walking through life hand in hand. Our ambition is unity within the body of Christ.
